* Start preparing your dog a few months in advance of your baby's arrival. Play recorded baby sounds such as those on the CD Preparing Fido at a low volume for short periods of time everyday and then gradually increase.
* Prohibit your pet's access to the nursery starting a few months before the baby is born.
* Place dog toys in a contained area so they're separate from children's toys. Keep only a few toys outside the toy box in order to discipline your dog.
* Avoid giving your dog any attention when she misbehaves with the new baby in the house.
* If you need outside help, private dog training lessons range from $30-$65 per hour.
